Hurtigruten In 5 Minutes

This time-lapse documents the 2600 km/134 hour journey of the Norwegian "Hurtigruten" from Bergen to Kirkenes, by some described as the world's most beautiful sea voyage. Norwegian public broadcaster NRK aired the entire journey live from the 16th to the 22nd of June 2011. Shortly after, Guinness Book of Records approved it as the longest continuously aired documentary in the world.

All the footage used was shared under CC BY-SA 3.0 via bittorent by NRK.

How this video was made:

1. Download approx. 300 GB of raw footage via bittorent.
2. Import to Final Cut Pro and set the speed to 10 000 %.
3. Wait for over a week for everything to render.
4. Export and import back into FCP. Set the speed to 1300 %.
5. Render some more.
6. Add names, music, etc.
7. Export.

For those who are wondering, the time the ship was in the harbor was cut by NRK to save space, so that's why the ship enters and leaves the harbors so quickly.
